Kulturpalast Dresden

Located in the very heart of Dresden—just steps away from the iconic Frauenkirche, the historic Zwinger, and the world-famous Semper Opera House—lies the Kulturpalast, a central cultural venue that was redesigned and renovated by the architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners.

In addition to the Dresden Philharmonic, the Kulturpalast is also home to the renowned cabaret "Die Herkuleskeule".

The new concert hall accommodates nearly 1,800 visitors, with the cabaret offering an additional 250 seats.

For the washrooms, a material was required that could withstand high visitor volumes, even at full capacity, while fitting harmoniously with the building’s overall aesthetic.

In close collaboration between VARICOR®’s top fabricator, Ernst Rockhausen Söhne GmbH & Co. KG from Waldheim, the project installer, and the building services planning office, an elegant solution made of VARICOR® was developed—one that fully convinced the architects.

The result: several seamless, custom-made washbasin units, ranging from two to five basins, precisely tailored to the spatial layout. A notable feature is the concealed drain beneath a removable cover, combining clean design with easy maintenance.
